Clerk of Works - HMNB Clyde Faslane
Babcock is seeking a dedicated Clerk of Works to join our team at HMNB Clyde Faslane, contributing to vital infrastructure projects that support the Royal Navy. This is a full-time, permanent role with a salary range of £37,000 - £46,000 plus benefits.
As a Clerk of Works, you will be instrumental in ensuring that contractors deliver work safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards. You will act as a crucial link between project teams and contractors, helping to maintain the performance, readiness, and safety of critical naval assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure contractors adhere to safety, health, environmental, quality, and security standards, as well as CDM regulations.
- Review and approve risk assessments and method statements to guarantee the safe execution of works.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure projects are completed on time, in full, and to the required specifications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, supporting daily operations and resolving on-site issues.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Project Manager regarding progress, risks, and performance.
This role involves 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (07:15 – 16:45), and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in project or subcontractor control within construction or engineering environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations.
- Experience managing contractor compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Ability to monitor, report, and track project performance against plans.
- Experience working in high-safety or highly regulated environments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- A recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely, or Site Management Safety Training Scheme.
- Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
- Certifications in Working at Height or Confined Spaces are desirable.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
