Electrical Fitter - HMNB Clyde

As an Electrical Fitter at HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining essential defence infrastructure and enabling mission-critical operations.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving electrical systems across a complex and high-profile defence estate. Your work will directly support operational readiness and site safety, with no two days being the same. You’ll join a collaborative, skilled team where your expertise is valued and your development is supported, offering you the chance to build on your technical skills in a dynamic environment contributing to national security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Identifying faults, defects, and required alterations to maintain performance and reliability.
  • Supporting other trades and collaborating with colleagues across maintenance teams.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Suggesting improvements to systems and processes to enhance performance and efficiency.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 36 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working with electrical systems, equipment, and maintenance processes.
  • Application of knowledge of regulations, health and safety standards, and documentation.
  • Experience carrying out electrical fault finding, repairs, and installation work.
  • Proven ability to work within controlled environments and follow safe systems of work.

Qualifications:

  • SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Maintenance, or equivalent qualification (essential).
  • 2391 Test and Inspection qualification (advantageous).

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency.
