The Role

Mission Training Devices (MTD) is seeking talented Software Developers to join our expanding team in anticipation of exciting upcoming opportunities. This role involves developing software for synthetic training devices, encompassing both stand-alone applications and Mixed-Reality integrations.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Developing software for synthetic training devices, including stand-alone applications and Mixed-Reality integrations.
  • Preference for experience in: building modules/plugins for VBS4 and/or BlueIG using their SDKs; building modules/plugins for other simulators; programming in C, C++, or C#; scripting in Python; building applications with .NET MAUI; interest/experience with unmanned systems.
  • Essential experience with collaborative development tools, specifically Azure DevOps and Git. Experience administering these platforms is beneficial.
  • Experience with or qualifications in SCRUM are advantageous as MTD follows the SCRUM development methodology.
  • Semi-frequent travel to MoD Boscombe Down is expected for meetings and hardware interaction, typically twice-monthly with overnight stays.
  • A strong desire for self-improvement, expansion of understanding, and work on cutting-edge concepts is sought.
  • A base understanding of, or willingness to learn, core principles of Physics and spatial Mathematics (geometry, vectors, matrices) will be beneficial.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) are essential for team collaboration, code reviews, and discussions.
  • A high level of professionalism is expected, including participation in team and company activities.
  • The successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting, which may involve checks on criminal records, security services, and credit references. A minimum of 5 years of UK residency is normally required for qualification.
