Licensed Aircraft Engineer
Babcock is seeking a skilled Licensed Aircraft Engineer to join their team at RAF Wittering, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. In this vital role, you will contribute to keeping critical aircraft flying safely and supporting essential aviation operations. About the Role
As a Licensed Aircraft Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to carry out aircraft engineering, line, and depth maintenance. You will ensure all aircraft are safe, serviceable, and ready to meet stringent customer and contractual requirements. Working collaboratively with Mechanical and Avionic Engineers, you will play a key role in the generation and release to service of aircraft, adhering to both civilian regulations and Babcock approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver aircraft maintenance in strict accordance with regulatory, safety, and company requirements.
- Lead and support technicians and inspectors throughout all maintenance activities.
- Conduct thorough fault diagnosis and effective problem-solving within a complex technical engineering environment.
- Guarantee that all engineering activities fully comply with relevant legislation, established procedures, and customer expectations.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, the Site Operations Manager, and other stakeholders to ensure continuous operational output.
Location and Hours:
This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site at RAF Wittering, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. You will work 40 hours per week on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, which includes weekends. Typical shift hours are 07:30–19:30, though patterns may vary based on operational demands.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of MOD Engineering procedures and documentation.
- Supervisory experience within a civil or military aviation environment.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
- A valid CAA Part 66 B1.2 Licence (essential).
- A B3 Licence (accepted).
Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
- Human Factors qualification.
- A recognised SHE qualification.
- Defence industry experience.
- Type Rating on Grob 115E aircraft and Lycoming 360 engines.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for this role may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency status.
