The Role
As an Operational Analysis Consultant, you will be instrumental in delivering impactful analysis that guides critical defence decisions. You will lead various programmes, primarily supporting research themes and procurement projects. Your day-to-day activities will involve direct client engagement to understand complex issues, designing and implementing analytical approaches, and providing robust evidence and insights to support decision-making within the defence sector and beyond.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements.
- Developing and delivering operational analysis, modelling, and evidence-based insights.
- Conducting options analysis using techniques such as Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and cost-effectiveness appraisal.
- Leading and contributing to business development and bid activities.
- Facilitating workshops and presenting findings to senior decision-makers.
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
Essential Experience:
- A strong background in operational analysis/operational research and analytical problem-solving.
- Proficiency in applying both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques, including modelling, simulation, and optimisation.
- Experience engaging stakeholders and translating requirements into effective analytical approaches.
- Demonstrable experience presenting insights and influencing decision-makers.
- Experience using analytical tools or programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R to develop models and generate evidence-based insights.
Essential Qualifications:
- A degree in a STEM discipline (e.g., mathematics, physics, engineering, or similar).
- Membership, or working towards membership, of a professional body such as the Operational Research Society or the IMA.

This role is full-time (37 hours per week) and is based at any of our main UK locations, requiring a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
