The Role
As a Senior Buyer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering efficient, high-quality procurement services that directly support complex engineering and defence programmes. Reporting to the Operational Procurement Manager, you’ll lead the execution of the requisition‑to‑pay process across a defined scope, ensuring value, performance and compliance at every stage.
This is a role where your expertise will truly matter. You’ll manage significant spend, influence supplier performance, and support major programmes that contribute to national security. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Managing the end‑to‑end requisition‑to‑pay process, including order placement, expediting and post‑order management.
- Driving improvements in procurement performance, lead times, delivery metrics and invoice accuracy.
- Developing and managing supplier relationships, including performance, risk and opportunity planning.
- Producing ITT documentation, evaluations and robust contractual agreements.
- Collaborating closely with Category Management and Project Procurement teams to support business priorities.
This is a full‑time, permanent role, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, balancing on‑site collaboration with flexibility.
Essential Experience:
- Working as a procurement professional within a complex or regulated environment.
- Using ERP systems such as IFS, SAP or Oracle, including e‑procurement tools.
- Managing contracts, negotiations and commercial terms and conditions.
- Prioritising multiple requirements with strong attention to detail.
- Engaging confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Degree‑level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- MCIPS, studying towards MCIPS, or an equivalent professional qualification (desirable but not essential).
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
