Senior Composite Material Engineer - A220 Production
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Senior Composite Material Engineer to join the Materials & Process (M&P) team in Belfast, supporting A220 production. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking a new challenge in a dynamic working environment, with the chance to manage projects, communicate with numerous stakeholders and suppliers, and participate in root cause analysis investigations.
Tasks & Accountabilities
- Manage composite material activities within a production environment.
- Provide support for production issues related to composite technologies.
- Support or lead product improvement initiatives focusing on cost or quality aspects of composite parts.
- Coordinate and support activities with Plant Engineering and the Material & Process community.
- Responsible for material selection and providing support to design, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and quality for all material-related queries and concessions.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder networks with internal interfaces such as design offices, procurement, and supply chain quality.
- Participate in future aircraft development programs and industrialization improvement projects.
Skills & Experience
We are seeking candidates with an Engineer or Science Degree and proven experience in Composite Materials and Processes. Knowledge in assembly and/or surface-related materials and technologies is highly valued, encompassing solution development, material qualifications, M&P processes, testing, and failure analysis.
- Educated to degree level in Engineering or Science. A Master's degree is advantageous.
- 5 to 8 years of proven experience in Composites Materials and Processes, including knowledge of component assembly and surface treatment technologies.
- Experience in technically supporting new material supplier qualifications and developments.
- Ability to technically lead projects in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated networking skills and technical leadership in collaboration with external partners, coupled with a problem-solving approach.
