Senior Service Consultant

Are you ready to be part of the future? At QinetiQ, we are creating tomorrow. From cutting-edge defence technology to groundbreaking innovations, our mission is to empower and protect lives. Join us as a Senior Service Consultant at either our Bristol or Malvern site, where you will have the opportunity to work with brilliant minds on cutting-edge technology.

As a Senior Service Consultant, you will provide subject matter expertise (SME) across QinetiQ’s full-service portfolio, with a focus on leading and contributing to Bid and Pre-Bid activities. This involves shaping high-quality bid responses and ensuring integration and management requirements are fully understood, articulated, and aligned with customer expectations.

Day-to-day, you will work collaboratively with customer-facing teams, designing and delivering service integration, support, and management models throughout the full service lifecycle. A key aspect of the role is engaging directly with the Ministry of Defence and wider government stakeholders, and associated delivery partners, to support the development of operationally sound and compliant solutions.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Acting as an SME, providing service lifecycle insight to support bid responses and proposals, identifying customer and business requirements, and defining suitable support models with associated cost estimates.
  • Operating autonomously, demonstrating the ability to independently resolve complex issues with minimal direction.
  • Ensuring all proposed customer solutions are fully aligned with established Service and Technical Operations policies, standards, and processes.
  • Influencing stakeholders at various positions and levels, promoting alignment, understanding, and positive outcomes.
  • Collaborating with Service Design and Transition (SD&T), Service Operations, and Technical Operations teams to ensure service design packages are fully developed, approved, and ready to enable successful Service Transition.
  • Applying knowledge of MoD bid processes, frameworks, and solution requirements to shape compliant, high-quality service inputs into MoD bid submissions and supporting documentation.

Essential Experience:

  • Significant experience in Service Design, Service Architecture, and Service Development within large and complex organisations.
  • Demonstrable experience contributing to or leading Bid and Pre-Bid activities, including producing high-quality service inputs, support models, and costed responses.
  • Proven background working within Ministry of Defence (MoD) environments or government environments, applying knowledge of governance, service expectations, risk, and operational constraints.
  • Previous experience shaping and contributing to MoD bid submissions, including interpreting requirements, aligning solutions to MoD frameworks, and producing compliant service documentation.
  • Strong track record of engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, customers, partners, and internal teams across a variety of levels and organisational structures.
  • Previous experience producing service artefacts, including service models, integration diagrams, high-level plans, service design packages, and operational documentation.

Essential Qualifications:

  • ITIL 4 Managing Professional or other advanced ITIL certifications beyond foundational level.
  • SAFe certification or equivalent experience working within SAFe.

We value difference and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you can demonstrate the required level of experience and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.

This role is 37 hours per week, based at either our Bristol or Malvern site, with hybrid working patterns available. Travel to other sites or customer sites will be required.

Malvern: The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance, and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities. It develops technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications, and cyber security.
