The Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in the delivery and support of specialist Test & Evaluation equipment and facilities across UK MOD Land Ranges. Your role is crucial for ensuring complex systems operate safely, efficiently, and meet the stringent standards of national defence.
Your daily responsibilities will involve leading and contributing to multidisciplinary projects, focusing on the upgrade, integration, testing, and acceptance of facilities, vehicles, control, surveillance, and data systems. You will also engage with a wide array of stakeholders, provide mentorship to junior engineers, support technical assurance activities, and contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of test & evaluation system development projects, ensuring they meet time, cost, and quality objectives.
- Deliver comprehensive systems engineering outputs throughout the project lifecycle, including proposals, requirements definition, integration, testing, and transition into service.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to refine requirements, identify optimal solutions, and effectively manage technical risks.
- Plan and oversee integration, installation, and acceptance activities, encompassing IT, Safety, and Security systems.
- Produce supplier statements of work, tender documents, and clearly defined acceptance criteria.
- Mentor junior Engineers, fostering their development and supporting overall capability growth.
Essential Experience
- Proven track record in leading multidisciplinary systems engineering projects.
- Experience delivering systems within safety-critical or regulated environments.
- Proficiency in producing technical artefacts, defining requirements, and achieving certified outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders and technical delivery across complex programmes.
- Experience in the integration, testing, and transition into service of complex systems.
- Solid understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and engineering governance principles.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Civil).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Evidence of substantial experience in systems engineering or equivalent professional training.

Location and Travel
This is a full-time role and can be based at one of our key locations: Amesbury, Farnborough, Sevenoaks, or Shoeburyness. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be required.
