GCAP Through-Life Support (TLS) Supportability Engineer
Join BAE Systems and become a vital part of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) as a Supportability Engineer. This role is based in Warton and offers hybrid working arrangements. You will play a crucial part in developing through-life support solutions for future combat air systems, contributing to a safer future.
In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping supportability from the initial stages of the GCAP platform and system design. You will apply established supportability engineering principles and conduct thorough technical analyses to ensure effective support throughout the system's lifecycle. Your work will directly influence design decisions, aiming to enhance supportability, reduce lifecycle costs, and improve operational effectiveness.
Core Duties:
- Support the execution of engineering analyses and the application of supportability engineering principles to influence GCAP platform and system design.
- Process and analyse design and in-service data to inform future through-life support strategies.
- Generate technical supportability outputs in accordance with international standards and specifications.
- Assist in the assessment, management, and control of changes to platform supportability characteristics and associated support solution requirements.
- Analyse safety requirements and hazards that may impact support solutions.
- Contribute to the development of future ways of working, including digital engineering processes and advanced information systems.
- Collaborate with engineering specialists and cross-functional teams to share knowledge and add value across programmes.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Good understanding of, or keen interest in, through-life support principles for military air platforms.
- Experience in a support engineering, maintenance, or related engineering role is advantageous.
- Awareness of Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability (RMT) principles.
- Understanding of at least one of the following supportability engineering disciplines: Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), or Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM).
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
