Ancillary – Labourer

Join BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness as an Ancillary Labourer, a full-time, on-site role involving crucial support for defence manufacturing. You will be responsible for the safe operation of plant machinery and assisting with vital processing tasks.

Core Duties:

  • Safely operate forklifts to move loads to and from facilities.
  • Prepare jobs for processing, ensuring readiness for blast chamber loading.
  • Utilize all lifting equipment and accessories in line with manufacturer guidance and lift plans.
  • Position and move loads using cranes or portable lifting equipment.
  • Load and unload items into the blast chamber.
  • Identify and report any damaged equipment.
  • Carry out filter extraction work (LEV) ensuring thorough cleaning and decontamination.
  • Operate a mobile workshop vehicle for on-site LEV maintenance and repairs.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capability to work at height.
  • Proficiency in working both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • LEV experience is advantageous.

Location: Barrow-in-Furness – Fulltime onsite shiftwork (overtime available on nightshift)

Salary: £33,807 + shift allowance
