This role involves leading end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities for plant, equipment, and infrastructure requirements, crucial for a major, long-term investment programme. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop and execute sourcing and contracting strategies. Key responsibilities include managing commercial and contractual risks, delivering effective procurement solutions aligned with business and project objectives, and providing vital commercial and supply chain expertise.
The position requires leading supplier negotiations, overseeing contract awards, and driving supplier performance to ensure value for money and successful project delivery throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Core Duties:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop sourcing and contracting strategies for a significant North West investment programme spanning over a decade.
- Identify and manage procurement, commercial, and contractual risks, issues, and liabilities within sourcing and contract strategies.
- Support and deliver procurement plans that effectively meet stakeholder requirements.
- Provide commercial and supply chain expertise to programme and project delivery teams.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities, including tender strategy, documentation, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
- Conduct commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimal value and outcomes for the business.
- Support the development and successful implementation of supply chain strategies.
- Manage procurement activities throughout the sourcing lifecycle, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution with customers and suppliers.
- Ensure whole-life costing principles are fully considered and embedded within procurement strategies prior to tender release.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven procurement or supply chain experience within the plant & equipment and/or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience leading or supporting specification-based procurement activities, including design, manufacture, and build requirements.
- A strong understanding of procurement and commercial principles, strategies, processes, policies, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in contract management and supplier performance management.
- Effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across multiple functions.
- CIPS qualified, studying towards CIPS, or holding an equivalent professional qualification is highly advantageous.
