Procurement Professional – Construction Major Projects

As a Procurement Professional, you will play a key role in supporting procurement and commercial activities for construction and infrastructure projects that are part of a significant, long-term investment programme. You will work closely with project teams to develop and implement effective procurement strategies, considering cost, risk, programme requirements, and buildability, while ensuring value across the supply chain.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing procurement activities from market engagement through to contract award. You will be instrumental in the successful delivery of construction packages and achieving strong commercial outcomes.
Core Duties:
- Support the development and delivery of procurement activities for construction and infrastructure works, including civils, building, and associated packages.
- Assist in the end-to-end procurement of construction packages, encompassing market engagement, tendering, evaluation, and contract award.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure procurement activities are aligned with programme requirements and delivery timescales.
- Assist in the evaluation of tender returns, reviewing pricing, scope, and commercial assumptions.
- Support supplier and contractor engagement throughout the procurement process.
- Contribute to identifying commercial risks and opportunities within procurement activities.
- Support cost-focused discussions, including value engineering and budget considerations.
- Assist in managing procurement documentation and ensuring governance requirements are met.
Essential Skills:
- Experience or exposure working within construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments, ideally in a commercial or supply chain role.
- Awareness of standard construction industry contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and their application in a project environment.
- Understanding of commercial, cost, or procurement principles and how they support project delivery.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
