About the Role

Based at our Wittering, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire site, this role is truly out of the ordinary, offering you the chance to maintain the integrity and safety of airfield operations.

You will contribute directly to the delivery of critical air traffic services, supporting flying operations and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory frameworks. This permanent, full-time position operates 40 hours per week, with shift patterns that include weekends to meet operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver air traffic control services in line with all regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure ongoing competency and compliance with unit standards and procedures.
  • Actively support safety management systems, including conducting risk assessments, managing hazard logs, and implementing safety improvements.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues and trainees when qualified to do so.
  • Perform Duty Air Traffic Control Officer responsibilities and contribute to wider contract delivery.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Act as the duty ATCO, ensuring the integrity of the airfield, the movement area, equipment, and surrounding areas are fully serviceable and support safe operations.
  • Working within regulated aviation frameworks and safety-critical environments.
  • Collaborating effectively with operational teams and stakeholders.
  • Civil Aviation Authority Air Traffic Controller Licence (Aerodrome (ADI) rating).
  • Current European Class 3 Medical.
  • IT literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in mentoring or training within an air traffic or aviation environment.
  • Managing and processing meteorological information accurately within required timeframes.
  • Interpreting flight planning messages and preparing notices and operational records.
  • On the Job Training Instructor qualification.
  • Experience within a military aviation environment.
  • Air Traffic Control Assistant experience.
  • Meteorological Observer qualification.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will be required to achieve and maintain Terrorist Check (CTC) and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) security clearance for this role.
