About the Role

As an Armourer at Babcock's Lulworth, Dorset site, you will play a crucial role in supporting defence capability by ensuring weapons and mechanical systems are maintained to the highest standard. This is a hands-on engineering position where your expertise directly contributes to operational readiness and safety. You will work on a diverse range of equipment, from small arms to armoured turret systems, developing your technical skills in a highly specialised environment while building a rewarding career in defence engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, and overhaul small arms and weapon systems to maintain operational performance.
  • Carry out repairs and fault diagnosis on armoured turret systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct examinations and quality checks in line with engineering standards and procedures.
  • Manufacture and assemble components to support production and maintenance activities.
  • Support continuous improvement by following best practice and maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrating experience completing weapon equipment courses or strong, hands-on familiarity with military or defence-related equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification (RQF/NVQ) in an Advanced Manufacturing or Engineering discipline (such as an advanced apprenticeship or equivalent).
  • A full, valid UK driving licence.

Location and Working Hours

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at Lulworth, Dorset. You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Please note that eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held, due to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
