Salary: £35,900 - £42,300 Depending on Experience + Benefits

Babcock is seeking an Assistant Package Manager to join their team at the Devonport Royal Dockyard. This role is integral to delivering critical infrastructure that supports the UK’s defence capability. You will be part of a major programme, contributing to the creation of a safe and secure world.

The Role

As an Assistant Package Manager, you will support the delivery of complex construction and infrastructure packages within a major programme environment. You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from initial design development through to construction and project close-out. This role provides a valuable opportunity to develop your career in project and engineering management, gaining exposure to large, regulated programmes and working with multidisciplinary teams. Your work will directly contribute to national defence capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of infrastructure and construction packages across design, procurement, and build phases.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, commercial, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor project performance, including progress, cost, and quality metrics.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective communication and alignment.
  • Contribute to safe, compliant delivery in line with project and regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week, based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience working within construction or infrastructure project environments.
  • Understanding of engineering design and construction processes.
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete construction and temporary works.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and contract administration.
  • Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments.

Qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • CSCS card.
  • Project management qualification (e.g., APM or equivalent) is desirable.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and will be required to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
