Assistant Project Manager

Babcock is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth, Devon. You will play a crucial role in delivering critical defence infrastructure, supporting naval operations through the management of civil engineering work packages.

About the Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with experienced Project and Package Managers to coordinate and manage various project aspects. This is an excellent opportunity to build your project management career in a complex, regulated environment, gaining valuable experience on projects that are fundamental to national defence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the successful delivery of civil engineering work packages across major programmes.
  • Coordinate project activities, including detailed planning, cost monitoring, and scheduling.
  • Assist in defining project scope, technical requirements, and effective delivery solutions.
  • Manage and support the processes for identifying and mitigating risks and issues within work packages.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, supporting effective communication and comprehensive reporting.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience working within a project delivery or technical environment.
  • A solid understanding of project controls, including planning, cost monitoring, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering or construction management principles.
  • Experience supporting risk management activities and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • ONC or OND in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • (Desirable) Training in risk assessment or health and safety.
  • (Desirable) Familiarity with NEC contracts or project management systems.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
