At Babcock, we are looking for an Avionics Technician to join our team at RAF Valley, near Holyhead, Anglesey. This role is integral to ensuring critical aircraft are mission-ready, contributing to a safe and secure world.

The Role

As an Avionics Technician, you will be responsible for the detailed maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of aircraft systems and components within a depth maintenance environment. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring aircraft safety, compliance, and readiness for critical missions. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your technical skills in a specialized engineering field while supporting national defence and security.

Your Responsibilities

  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on aircraft and aircraft components.
  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, modifications, and functional testing of avionics systems and equipment.
  • Ensuring maintenance tasks are completed safely, accurately, and in line with required schedules and procedures.
  • Supporting compliance activities including tooling control, equipment checks, and maintenance documentation.
  • Maintaining technical competence through on-the-job training and continuous professional development.

This full-time, permanent role is based on-site at RAF Valley, Anglesey, working 37.5 hours per week.

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated engineering knowledge and practical technical skills.
  • Experience contributing to the maintenance, operation, manufacture, or development of engineering systems, equipment, or services.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high-quality work.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems within an engineering or technical environment.
  • Skills in building effective relationships and engaging with a range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or a military equivalent apprenticeship/qualification.
  • Minimum City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or NVQ Level 3 in an aeronautical-related discipline.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
