The Role
As a Boilermaker, you will be instrumental in maintaining, repairing, and enhancing essential estate infrastructure at a key UK naval base. Your expertise will be crucial for ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of various systems, from boilers and cranes to marine and mechanical structures. This is a dynamic, hands-on engineering position within a supportive team environment, offering direct contributions to national defence and opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance on boilers, cranes, and marine structures.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve defects in systems, manufacturing, and installations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental legislation, and safe systems of work.
- Propose improvements to processes, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
This is a full-time role, 36 hours per week, based at HMNB Clyde. Standard working hours are Monday to Thursday, 07:15 to 16:45.
Essential Experience:
- Operation and maintenance of brazing or similar mechanical equipment.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings and technical schematics.
- Completion of risk assessments and adherence to safe systems of work.
- Application of COSHH requirements in a practical setting.
- Safe operation of mechanical tools, equipment, and machinery.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Coded welding experience (Desirable).
- Confined spaces or working at height certification (Desirable).
- Asbestos awareness or abrasive wheels training (Desirable).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
