The Role: Cloud Engineer
As a Cloud Engineer, you will be instrumental in enabling secure, scalable, and mission-critical cloud capabilities. You will be part of our Cloud Engineering team, providing essential support across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with engineering teams to design, deploy, and automate solutions that deliver next-generation services within complex operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building and configuring cloud services to meet business and application requirements.
- Monitoring cloud environments for performance, availability, cost optimisation, and security compliance.
- Developing and maintaining infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Automating deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows to enhance efficiency and minimise manual intervention.
- Implementing and enforcing cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security.
- Working closely with development, operations, and security teams to facilitate smooth application deployments.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience in designing, deploying, and managing solutions in AWS.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools.
- Familiarity with networking concepts including DNS, VPN, load balancers, firewalls, and routing.
- Strong familiarity with AWS services.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Location and Working Hours:
This role is based at either our Malvern or Farnborough site, with a working week of 37 hours. A minimum average site attendance of three days per week is required.
Malvern Facility:
The Malvern facility is renowned for its contributions to electronic warfare, surveillance, and complex system integration, significantly enhancing the UK’s defence capabilities. It focuses on developing technologies for both military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications, and cyber security.
Security Clearance:
Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
