About the Role:

As a key member of our ICS Commercial Team at BAE Systems, you will work cross-functionally and directly with customers to drive high-impact commercial outcomes. This role is instrumental in supporting contract preparation, negotiation, bidding, drafting, configuration, and ongoing contract management.

Core Duties:

  • Comprehensive Contract and Subcontract Management: Provide support across the entire contract lifecycle, including bidding, contract administration, monitoring compliance, managing amendments and variations, overseeing configuration, and ensuring smooth contract closure with accurate documentation.
  • Drafting and Negotiation of Agreements: Prepare, review, and refine contractual documents and commercial agreements. Lead negotiations to secure favourable terms and mitigate risks.
  • Legal and Commercial Alignment: Ensure contracts and subcontracts are legally sound, commercially viable, and aligned with organisational objectives before execution. Maintain attention to detail in approvals, signatures, and record-keeping.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build good, trust-based relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, applying a high degree of customer focus to understand needs, resolve issues, and maintain long-term collaboration.
  • Guidance and Best Practices: Provide guidance to stakeholders, support business objectives, and contribute to the development of best practices in contract and relationship management.

Essential Skills:

  • Contract, Procurement & Commercial Acumen: Demonstrate knowledge of terms and conditions, types of contracts, and associated commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Possess excellent communication abilities with a collaborative, adaptable, and organised approach.
  • Client/Customer Partnership: Ability to build, maintain, and strengthen client/customer partnerships.
  • Accuracy and Risk Identification: Exhibit accuracy in reviewing contracts, documents, and data to identify risks and inconsistencies.

The ICS Commercial Team:

The ICS Commercial Team collaborates cross-functionally with key stakeholders to support all submarine programmes. Their responsibilities span contract preparation, negotiation, bidding activities, drafting and writing documentation, as well as configuring and managing contracts throughout their lifecycle. Career development is fully supported within the team, with opportunities for advancement to management level and skillset development through further education and recognised training. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates for all Submarines roles.

Location and Working Arrangements:

This role is based in Filton and offers a hybrid working arrangement, with 3 days per week required on site. BAE Systems offers a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; please speak to your recruiter about the specific options for this role.
