Communications Technician

At Babcock, we are dedicated to creating a safe and secure world. As a Communications Technician based in Bovington, near Wareham, Dorset, you will be instrumental in supporting defence operations by ensuring the reliability and readiness of critical communication systems.

The Role

In this vital role, you will work as part of a skilled team to inspect, diagnose, and repair communication equipment used within armoured fighting vehicles. Your work will directly contribute to keeping essential assets operational and mission-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and test communications equipment, meticulously recording findings and work requirements.
  • Perform Level 1 repairs in accordance with approved procedures and high-quality standards.
  • Identify faults, order necessary spare parts, and prepare equipment for further repair when required.
  • Respond to communication equipment breakdowns, both during standard working hours and on a rostered basis.

Working Hours:

The role is based onsite at Bovington with set working times of Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30 and Friday 08:00 to 15:00, totaling 39 hours per week.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling tasks.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to technical work.
  • Demonstrated reliability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a safety-focused environment.
  • A full UK Category B driving licence.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for certain roles may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency.
