Construction Supervisor - Plymouth, Devon

At Babcock, we are creating a safe and secure world. As a Construction Supervisor at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential infrastructure projects that safeguard the future.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 35 hours per week, where you will take a hands-on approach to construction activities across complex infrastructure projects. Supporting the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day site operations, ensuring that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring work is delivered safely and in line with procedures.
  • Coordinating contractors and overseeing installation works across packages of construction activity.
  • Leading site meetings, inductions, and briefings to ensure effective communication across teams.
  • Maintaining site records, including progress tracking, inspections, and verification activities.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience managing contractors and supervising site installation works safely.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, CDM regulations, and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments, ideally within construction or infrastructure.
  • Ability to manage daily site activities and coordinate multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both site operatives and management teams.

Qualifications:

  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card (Gold card)
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme qualification
  • Temporary works or lifting qualifications - Desirable
  • NVQ Level 6 or 7 in Construction Management - Desirable

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
