Control Systems Engineer - Bristol
Rolls-Royce is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join the Control System delivery team within the Software Systems Capability function, based in Bristol. This is a full-time professional role within the Engineering department.

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in leading the integration of our Systems and Software solutions for new and in-Service products. Your work will span across Civil Aerospace, Defence Aerospace, and exciting new projects such as the Reactor Protection System for the Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor.
What you will be doing:
- Ensure the on-time delivery and quality of the Control System, making sure technical outcomes are developed and delivered to appropriate standards.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers across multiple disciplines and the supply chain.
- Hold overall responsibility for changes to the Requirements, Design, Verification, and Validation strategy for the control system.
- Integrate the activities of various engineering disciplines including Control Systems, Software Development, Electronics, and System Security.
- Analyze the behavior and performance of solutions using modeling and simulation to demonstrate requirement adherence, support problem investigation, and resolve customer issues.
- Develop and capture product and process knowledge, producing engineering work products and reports to document work and advise project stakeholders on progress.
Who we are looking for:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An engineering degree(s) from a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrable depth of knowledge and experience in Control Systems Engineering, with an understanding of associated engineering disciplines (software, electronics, system security).
- Working knowledge of control system domains, system architecture, software and/or hardware architecture, development process constraints, and verification strategies.
- Familiarity with developing model-based systems and software using digital engineering toolsets (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) and experience with requirements management and lifecycle management tools (e.g., DOORS, Azure DevOps, MKS Integrity).
- Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment and adapt to evolving objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to determine the appropriate level of analysis.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of conveying ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
