The Role
Within the Cyber Security Engineering Area, the Mission Critical Communications, PMR Radio & TETRA Access Network Engineering organizational unit, we are seeking a Hardware Designer Engineer. This role involves the development of analog and digital boards for Professional Telecom equipment and is based at our Florence (Campi Bisenzio) site.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze requirements, write project specifications, and design complex HW boards and assemblies.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle: design, prototype realization, board testing, hardware integration with the target system, and support for Qualification and Validation tests.
- Guide and manage PCB design in collaboration with electronic CAD colleagues.
- Support Product Industrialization phases by assisting the relevant departments and stakeholders.
- Produce Project Documentation, culminating in the generation of the Technical Data Package.
- Design and build equipment, along with associated cabling and FW, for development lab use in HW board integration and debugging.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master's Degree in Electronic/Telecommunications Engineering.
- Seniority: Senior level with 7-10 years of experience in similar fields.
- Preferred: Work experience in the development and/or repair of radio or telecommunication equipment.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge and experience in electronic board design/repair.
- Excellent manual dexterity and experience in SMT component rework.
- Excellent manual dexterity and experience in prototype cabling.
- General knowledge of schematic/simulation tools.
- Understanding of digital boards with high-speed buses, including:
- Signal integrity
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) issues
- Familiarity with main measurement instruments: oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer.
- Basic knowledge of FW development (e.g., PIC, microcontrollers, PLCs, etc.).
