About the Role

Join BAE Systems as a Data Governance Lead and play a pivotal role in shaping a data-driven future. Data is fundamental to our Shared Services operations, and this position is key to maximising the quality, availability, and use of trusted data assets to inform business decisions. Core Duties

  • Monitor and enhance the business's data governance framework, including the definition and refinement of processes, controls, and reports.
  • Oversee the process for data issue management and resolution, identifying and leading opportunities to improve data quality throughout its lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively with Data Owners and Stewards to ensure clear RACI matrices and that data requirements are effectively defined and applied.
  • Facilitate data stewardship working groups and review data standards, assessing their effectiveness in application to business data.
  • Advocate for improved data usage and management, encouraging greater data fluency across the organisation.
  • Provide recommendations to address complex problems and inform strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support business stakeholders in implementing data governance approaches to achieve their objectives.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven background in data governance or data management, with experience working within the data domain.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with Data Management frameworks, such as DAMA.
  • Possess sound generic, domain, and specialist knowledge, typically gained from recognised bodies of knowledge and organisational information, with an appreciation of the wider business context.
  • Demonstrate effective application of knowledge and the ability to impart it, absorbing new information and applying it effectively.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of processes related to data governance oversight.

Location and Working Arrangements

This role is based in Preston or any UK site, with occasional travel required to Preston, Glascoed, and Frimley. A hybrid working model is in place, with monthly travel to Preston. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; please discuss your options with your recruiter.
