Transport Driver - Camberley, Surrey

At Babcock, we are dedicated to creating a safe and secure world, and you can play a vital part as a Transport Driver at our Minley site.

This is a hands-on role out of the ordinary, where you will be responsible for delivering essential transport services that support the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) contract. Your duties will range from moving personnel and equipment to ensuring vehicle safety and compliance, all of which are crucial for keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Your skills will directly contribute to national defence training. You will gain valuable experience working with a variety of military and civilian vehicles, making a meaningful impact every day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving eligible personnel and equipment to and from training exercises or military duties.
  • Supporting departmental administration tasks and delivering stores across site.
  • Travelling up to 1.5 hours from site and performing manual tasks, including lifting and using tools.
  • Operating a range of vehicles, including the PSV and LGV fleet.
  • Completing comprehensive vehicle checks before, during, and after use.

The role is based at the RSME Minley site. Standard working hours are Monday to Thursday, 08:00–16:30 and Friday, 08:00–16:00, totalling 37 hours per week. Overtime opportunities may be available, and flexibility in start times might be required.

Essential Experience:

  • Practical experience in maintaining the roadworthiness of vehicles.
  • A strong understanding of driver’s hours regulations (JSP800 Vol 5 or EU regulations).
  • Experience in load restraint and load safety.

Qualifications:

  • Full UK Driving Licence with a minimum Category C.
  • Licences C+E and D would be advantageous and may offer a higher salary.
  • Driver CPC and Tachograph card.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Please note that many positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
