Electrical Fitter
Powering the Future of Defence Engineering at Babcock, Coulport.
As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable and effective operation of essential estates equipment that underpins some of the UK’s most critical defence activities. Your work will help keep our facilities running smoothly, supporting national security while advancing your own technical expertise and career development.
You’ll join a highly skilled estates maintenance team responsible for electrical systems across the site. This is an exciting opportunity to work on varied tasking—ranging from everyday maintenance to complex multi‑day projects—while growing your capability in a dynamic engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to help the department meet operational objectives.
- Identify and rectify electrical defects to maintain the performance and availability of estate systems.
- Work within Babcock’s processes and contribute ideas to improve systems, productivity and efficiency.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work.
- Support trades across the estate as required, including tasks such as fault‑finding, replacing fittings and completing repairs.
This is a full‑time, on‑site role, working 36 hours per week at Coulport.
Essential Experience:
- Knowledge of electrical systems, equipment and associated regulations.
- Experience working with maintenance documentation.
- Understanding of COSHH requirements.
- Background in environments such as shipbuilding, construction, oil and gas, aviation or manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret and work from technical information and drawings.
Qualifications:
- SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Fitting or equivalent.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
