Are you ready to contribute to the future of defence and national security? QinetiQ is seeking an enthusiastic Electronic Technician to join our Farnborough team. This role offers a unique chance to work with cutting-edge technology and gain invaluable experience in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and TEMPEST testing.
The Role
As an Electronic Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring that customer systems meet critical Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and TEMPEST requirements. This is a hands-on position where you will be involved in the planning, setup, and execution of tests, working directly with customer equipment. You will also contribute to high-quality technical documentation, operating under UKAS accreditation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the development of EMC test plans under guidance.
- Setting up customer equipment for EMC and TEMPEST testing.
- Conducting EMC/TEMPEST measurements using specialist RF equipment.
- Analysing test data and contributing to detailed technical test reports.
- Working closely with senior engineers and customers to ensure smooth test delivery.
We’re Interested In People Who Have:
- A strong interest in RF engineering, EMC or electronics testing.
- Any hands-on experience with electronics or RF measurements (including during an apprenticeship, college course, or first role).
- The ability to write clear technical notes or documents.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with customers.
- Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK or overseas.
- Basic ability to use equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analysers, or antennas (training provided).
Essential Qualifications
You will need one of the following:
- An electrical or electronics-based Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3).
- An HNC/HND in an electrical or electronics discipline.

Work Environment and Location
This role is based in Farnborough, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites is expected.
