// Role Specification
Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Electronics and/or Military Avionics Designated Airworthiness Engineer (d/f/m) to support the Technical Certification Team. This team provides crucial certification expertise across all Airbus Defence and Space aircraft programs and actively participates in rulemaking and international industrial standardization working groups.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead the certification, qualification, and Continued Airworthiness activities for the Electronics and/or Military Avionics technical disciplines.
- Provide airworthiness approvals and exercise Design Organisations Approvals (DOA) as well as Military Design Organisation Approvals (MDOA) privileges within the scope of assigned responsibility, as delegated by the Office of Chief of Airworthiness.
- Ensure the timely achievement of certification and qualification milestones by identifying major program technical issues, developing associated risk management plans, and addressing regulation, interpretation, safety, and certification compliance issues.
- Lead investigations into incidents and accidents concerning Airworthiness technical knowledge.
- Provide technical certification knowledge in Electronics and/or Military Avionics to the design organization and special projects.
- Influence the definition of certification policies for the assigned technical discipline and promote their consistent application across programs. This includes participation in developing new and foreseen technical certification strategies or policies, particularly for novel design features or compliance demonstration methods.
- Represent Airbus Defence and Space in rulemaking and international industrial standardization working groups for technical certification.
- Contribute to technical certification de-risking in Airbus Defence and Space Research and Technology (R&T) and Research and Development (R&D) projects related to Airworthiness.
- Gather and disseminate Technical Certification regulatory knowledge and expertise within Airbus Defence and Space, especially for Compliance Verification Engineers (CVE) and Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) communities, to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering.
- Extensive professional experience (more than 10 years) in Airworthiness functions related to Electronics and/or Military Avionics discipline.
- Experience interfacing with Aviation Authorities is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation skills, strong interpersonal and consulting skills.
- Ability to understand complex issues, break them down, and develop solutions independently.
- Advanced level of English.
- Good knowledge of German language is a plus.
