About the Role
Join BAE Systems and become an integral part of delivering advanced defence solutions. As an Engineer – Data Quality Management, you will play a key role in the engineering delivery of the River Class Destroyer (RCD) project. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the delivery of the engineering Bill of Material (BoM) and other essential engineering artefacts to the RCD customer. This role involves comprehensive support for engineering data quality, including the coordination of electronic data transfers between BAE Systems Naval Ships and the customer. You will be an integral part of a multi-discipline team, serving as the main interface, point-of-contact, and escalation route for industry partners concerning engineering data transfer and data quality matters. Your work will involve developing and agreeing detailed cross-company engineering processes, ensuring customer requirements are consistently met, and championing a continuous improvement approach.
Core Duties
- Assist within the engineering delivery schedule for engineering data transfers to industry partners, including Bills of Materials, 3D CAD Models, and Change Packages. This will involve collaboration with document control, DD&C, design zone integration, change, configuration, detail design teams, and chief engineer technical authorities.
- Support collaborative working with the shipyard, focusing on both stakeholder relationships and engineering process improvements. This includes managing daily/weekly drumbeats for transfer activities and the resolution of engineering quality issues.
- Assist in establishing a fit-for-purpose engineering deliverable readiness approach for RCD and take ownership of engineering data quality issue (DQI) resolution, ensuring adherence to agreed Customer service level agreements.
- Aid in the creation of engineering requirements for company-company data transfer capability and engage closely with the RCD programme and Naval Ships digital demand governance processes and change boards.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Academic qualification in a STEM related subject.
- Ability and willingness to become recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
- Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and governance of complex products, including the transition from detail design into build.
- Familiarity with engineering processes such as design assurance, bills of materials, data quality and governance, design reviews, and zonal integration.
