// Role Specification

Enterprise Strategy Architect

Based in Derby, Bristol, or London, this is a Full-Time Permanent role for an Enterprise Strategy Architect. You will be responsible for translating complex organisational, technological, and strategic challenges into clear, actionable direction that supports the delivery of digital and IT strategy across Rolls‑Royce.

Working closely with the Vice President for Digital & IT Strategy, this role acts as a key enabler of alignment across delivery teams and capability workstreams, ensuring that priorities, dependencies, and impacts are well understood. The position also involves supporting decision-making by providing structured insight, challenging assumptions, and helping teams understand implications beyond their immediate scope.

What you will be doing:

The role requires regular collaboration with Digital & IT teams, business leaders, and senior stakeholders, including executive leadership, to support organisational change and communicate strategic direction. It suits someone who is comfortable operating across technical, business, and operational contexts, and who can engage effectively with a wide range of audiences. Strong candidates will demonstrate curiosity, clarity of thought, and the ability to simplify complexity, alongside confidence in influencing others, presenting ideas, and guiding teams toward more effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Owning the integrity of delivering our Digital & IT strategy, including maintaining alignment with changing enterprise priorities.
  • Providing strategic direction and proactive dependency management between the Digital & IT delivery teams.
  • Connecting financial approvals and outcomes to understand the size, scale, and scope of initiatives for benefit realization.
  • Ensuring the evolution of our strategy over time is traceable and changes can be articulated with their decision-making rationale.
  • Engaging all teams through orchestration, articulation of needs, and follow-up to ensure commitments are delivered.
  • Acting as the deputy to the VP for Digital & IT Strategy.

Who we're looking for:

Position qualifications:

  • Cleared, or able to obtain, clearance to UK SC or above.
  • Be a “5 eyes” national (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, USA).
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, IT, Computing, or a related subject.

Preferred requirements: Skills and experience

We are looking for someone that is an expert in:

  • Storytelling and articulation of problems in language non-experts can understand.
  • Translation of business expressions of solutions into outcomes/capabilities they need to achieve.
  • Understanding when a process problem is being expressed as a technology issue.
  • Knowing when to be strategic and when a minor course alteration is appropriate.
  • Problem solving and probing for root cause.
  • Presentation material preparation and delivery.
  • Interpersonal skills and relationship building.
  • Articulation of a vision.
  • A flair for Digital & IT Technology in a Business Context, or vice-versa; both skillsets are key.
  • Efficiency & Simplification of processes.

Experience of:

  • Enterprise Architecture.
  • Strategic Portfolio Management and Dependency management (ideally BizzDesign Alfabet but other tools like LeanIX are fine).
  • Working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Risk Management.

Knowledge of:

  • Process Design and Modelling.
  • Working with major Enterprise Systems (PLM, ERP, MES, CRM, HCM etc).
  • Core IT base knowledge (Operating Systems, Databases, Cloud Technology, Security Principles).
  • Working in an Engineering Environment.
