About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ergonomist to join the Manufacturing Engineering team at Airbus's largest UK plant in Broughton, specializing in the manufacture of wings for the Airbus family of aircraft. This role offers the chance to influence and drive change within an established wing manufacturing facility.
You will be part of a small but influential Ergonomics team, working closely with Operations, Design Engineering, and Health & Safety across the plant. The primary focus is on optimizing human working conditions and overall system performance for both existing and new manufacturing tooling and processes.
Main Tasks and Activities:
- Increase efficiency and minimize negative impacts of work packages on human and manufacturing systems.
- Perform ergonomics work analysis of Assembly/Installation activities.
- Identify work-related ergonomic risk factors and propose solutions for mitigation.
- Support the building of ergonomics action plans aligned with industrial strategy and future evolutions.
- Contribute to the definition of specifications, calls for tenders, and subcontractor piloting for ergonomics-related outsourced work packages.
- Ensure ergonomics is considered with jigs and machine suppliers.
- Develop solutions for risk and hazard reduction through technical, organizational, and training approaches.
- Ensure the Ergonomics Tactical Implementation plan for the location is maintained.
- Be prepared to support specific ergonomic actions and task forces at other transnational locations.
What We're Looking For:
- Educated to degree level (or higher) in Ergonomics/Human Factors from an accredited CIEHF higher education body.
- Accredited to, or working towards, Registered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), or equivalent.
- Good background in human factor sciences, work physiology, biomechanics, and cognition.
- Experience in identifying workplace ergonomics risk factors and proposing mitigation solutions.
- Experience in all aspects of ergonomics, including assessment of working methods, standards, risk ratings, assessment tools, technical report writing, and development of technical solutions.
- Experience in anticipating risks (e.g., new designs & processes).
- Knowledge and/or experience of relevant Regulations and Standards relating to the workplace.
- Previous experience in an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering environment is desirable.
