The Role
This is a unique leadership opportunity where you will take ownership of the management, operation, and maintenance of a highly specialized facility. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of critical infrastructure, directly contributing to national security through the delivery of engineering support services. Working within our Nuclear sector, you will lead skilled teams, engage with senior stakeholders, and drive operational excellence in a complex and highly regulated environment. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact while developing your leadership, engineering, and operational management expertise.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the Explosive Handling Jetty team to deliver safe, efficient, and effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, environmental, and quality requirements across the facility.
- Act as the Facility Operator's representative at Nuclear Safety Committees and key stakeholder forums.
- Manage resources, equipment, and operational activities to maximize facility availability and performance.
- Support the delivery of engineering and infrastructure services in accordance with cost, quality, and time objectives.
This is a full-time, permanent role working 36 hours per week onsite at HMNB Clyde.
Essential Experience:
- Experience managing complex operational facilities, infrastructure, or engineering environments.
- Strong knowledge of Explosive Handling Jetty operations, procedures, and processes.
- Experience leading teams and managing operational performance in a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
- Experience of programme management and maintenance management activities.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Confined Space Competent Person certification.
- Water Rescue Equipment Training.
- DSEAR Awareness Training for Line Managers.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in facilities management, infrastructure operations, or leadership.
- Experience within defence, nuclear, marine engineering, or highly regulated industries.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
