About the Role

As an Export Control Officer at BAE Systems, you will be a crucial part of the FalconWorks Export Control Team, enabling rapid, compliant technology development. You will collaborate closely with a wide range of internal departments, including Business Development, Project Management, Commercial, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, and Legal. Your primary responsibility will be to provide clear and confident advice on regulatory requirements, processes, and compliance matters related to export controls.

You will also be instrumental in building strong external relationships, working with counterparts across FalconWorks entities and partner organisations both within the UK and internationally. This role requires you to become a key point of expertise across the organisation, with an in-depth understanding of FalconWorks™ entities.

Core Duties

  • Act as a trusted Subject Matter Expert, providing clear, confident guidance on export control regulations, procedures, and compliance queries.
  • Manage and submit export license applications, working closely with the relevant regulatory bodies to ensure smooth approvals.
  • Build in-depth knowledge of FalconWorks™ entities, becoming a key point of expertise across the organisation.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous review of Licensing Management Plans in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and deliver export licensing solutions that support the on-time delivery of FalconWorks™ products.
  • Play a key role in embedding and strengthening export control policies, processes, and best practices across FalconWorks entities.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Export Control regulations, including UK and US frameworks (ITAR & EAR), with experience in licensing applications.
  • A background in one or more of the following areas: Engineering, Project Management, Commercial, Procurement/Supply chain, Manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated tenacity and ability to work under pressure with limited supervision.

Security and Export Control Restrictions

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
