About the Role

Join BAE Systems and play a crucial role in pioneering progress and protecting what matters most by supporting in-service F-35 aircraft. As part of our Fast Jet Sustainment Support Team, you will analyse inspection findings, assess structural issues, and develop appropriate repair solutions for complex airframe challenges.

In this hybrid position, you will interpret technical data, provide guidance on repair and maintenance, and help resolve airframe-related queries. You will take on leadership and technical responsibilities, contributing to process improvement and engineering best practices. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, including design, technical, and project teams, you will ensure the effective, compliant, and coordinated delivery of engineering solutions.

Core Duties:

  • Respond to in-service queries related to BAES original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) airframe structures.
  • Develop and issue repair instructions for structural queries.
  • Provide technical and/or managerial leadership.
  • Define, review, and improve engineering processes.
  • Investigate and resolve structural issues effectively.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including design, technical, and project teams.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Leadership experience in defence (or similar) with experience delivering customer outcomes.
  • STEM degree or equivalent with structural analysis experience (or equivalent aerospace experience).
  • Experience with structural analysis methods and tools (e.g., Nastran, Abaqus, Hypermesh).
  • Knowledge of optimisation, fatigue, fracture, dynamics, and vibration analysis.

About the Team:

You will join a dedicated team of 17 professionals delivering specialist airframe structural repair expertise. This team coordinates key activities to achieve defined objectives while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, health and environment (SHE), and service. You will act as a technical expert, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight across engineering activities.

Working Arrangements:

This role is based in Prestwick and offers a hybrid working model, typically requiring 2-3 days in the office per week. BAE Systems offers a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; please discuss the specific options available for this role with your recruiter.
