Fleet Maintenance Manager - RAF Valley, Isle of Anglesey

This position requires a qualified vehicle mechanic and technician who will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness and safety of a specialist vehicle fleet. You will lead a skilled team of technicians, overseeing maintenance delivery, driving compliance, and guaranteeing asset availability during critical times. This role offers an exciting opportunity to blend hands-on engineering leadership with operational management within a highly regulated and purpose-driven environment, where your contributions directly impact national security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of technicians to deliver servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Plan and coordinate all fleet maintenance activities to maximise vehicle availability.
  • Oversee diagnostics, fault identification, and repair decision-making.
  • Manage workshop assets, tooling, and spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

This is a full-time, permanent role, requiring 39 hours per week, based on site at RAF Valley.

Essential Experience:

  • Supervising teams or acting in a first-line leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrable vehicle mechanic/engineering experience.
  • Exposure to digital Vehicle Management Systems.
  • Ability to write and implement COSHH and Risk Assessments.
  • Experience of working with heavy vehicles is highly desirable but not essential.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in service or repair, ideally with heavy vehicles.
  • Valid UK HGV (Category C or C+E) driving licence is preferred but not required.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH is favourable.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for this clearance may be affected by factors such as place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency.
