The Role: Hardware Team Leader

As a Hardware Team Leader, you will lead a team of highly skilled hardware engineers responsible for supporting our production programs. Your focus will be on critical products such as Helmet Mounted & Head-Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Controls, Active Inceptors, and other associated safety-critical technology.

Core Duties

  • Provide managerial and technical leadership to an electronics design team.
  • Manage work packages, including cost, schedule, risk, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure engineering support meets program demands.
  • Ensure adherence to company processes and provide technical governance.
  • Lead cost and performance trade-offs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Report task status and technical maturity to project management.
  • Liaise with functional management to review resourcing needs.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated high performance in leadership and management of engineering teams throughout a full product development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience with cost and planning management tools, optimising solutions, and minimising impacts from dependencies.
  • Experience in design, identifying improvements to working practices, and team skill development.
  • Focus on root cause analysis, target areas for improvement, failure reduction, and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Safety Critical Systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
  • Experience with work-package management tools such as MSP or JIRA.
