The Role

This senior leadership position is responsible for shaping and driving the delivery of complex portfolios that underpin the Royal Navy and wider UK defence efforts. You will be instrumental in aligning strategic investment with operational delivery, ensuring that robust governance, performance management, and continuous improvement are embedded throughout the organization. You will have the opportunity to influence large-scale programmes, enhance infrastructure and capability, and achieve measurable benefits within a safety-critical and highly regulated environment. This role places you at the forefront of defence delivery, contributing to long-term national security while fostering your leadership career within a global organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead cross-portfolio delivery, ensuring consistent achievement of compliance, governance, and performance standards.
• Drive strategic initiatives, including digital transformation, knowledge management, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Develop and implement resourcing strategies to match future demand with operational capability.
• Manage interfaces, risks, and dependencies across complex programmes and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost reduction, and enhancement of delivery outcomes.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 35 hours per week. The position is based on-site in Plymouth, Bristol, or Edinburgh, with travel required between these locations.

Essential Experience:

• Significant experience leading large, complex portfolios within defence, infrastructure, the public sector, or regulated industries.
• Proven ability to oversee multi-million-pound programmes with intricate interdependencies.
• Strong knowledge of portfolio, programme, and project delivery methodologies (e.g., Managing Successful Programmes, Projects In Controlled Environments, Agile).
• Demonstrated leadership and influencing capabilities at a senior or executive level.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience with business case development and benefits realization.

Qualifications:

• A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Additional qualifications in portfolio management, strategy, or programme leadership are considered desirable.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
