About the Role
We are seeking a strategic leader to safeguard the health and safety of Lockheed Martin personnel by driving the ESH team and the enterprise-wide ESH Management System for the UK and Europe region. This role blends robust governance, workforce empowerment, and stakeholder engagement to ensure current and future business and customer obligations are consistently met through sound ESH policies, processes, and procedures, applying a systematic, evidence-based approach to the rollout of effective ESH business solutions.
In addition, you will lead the full talent-management cycle—recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, compensation, and recognition/reinforcement—thereby fostering a high-performing, resilient ESH workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the ESH function for UK and Europe at the senior level, representing the organization and working across key stakeholders and forums.
- Develop, drive, and lead the ESH UK and Europe strategy, targeting key areas, achieving compliance, and focusing on continuous improvement.
- Partner with the business and external providers (where required) to identify, meet, and maintain strict legislative and company compliance for environment, health, safety, and sustainability.
- Lead and maintain a robust ISO certified ESH management system (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001) and the associated ESH management system.
- Lead and drive compliance with the ESH Management system, including translating legislation and customer requirements into actionable policies, procedures, and work instructions for the Europe region.
- Lead the effective identification and management of risks through the ESH team and key stakeholders.
- Lead the ESH team for incident management, including sound investigations and actions to prevent re-occurrence, identify trends, and thoroughly address PSIF/SIFS.
- Proactively undertake all people management practices, including recruitment; induction and probationary reviews of new employees; timely management of performance issues; coaching, mentoring, and development of employees; succession planning; and LM goal and annual performance reviews.
- Actively support business growth opportunities to ensure adequate planning and estimating are performed and relevant documentation is produced for Environment, Safety, and Health areas.
- Work collaboratively across the business to achieve successful outcomes.
- Continuously drive process improvement and excellence, including the proactive resolution of corrective actions.
- Interpret, analyse, and advise on Environment, Safety, and Health performance.
- Provide professional advice and guidance on Environment, Safety, and Health areas.
- Contribute and participate in continuous improvement activities across Environment, Safety, Health, Sustainability, and Wellbeing teams.

Required skills, qualifications and experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Environment, Safety, and Health leadership.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading environment, safety, and health across European regions.
- Bachelor’s degree (equivalent or higher) in environment, safety, and health. Other related degree levels will be considered.
- Experience in a similar position, managing and leading ESH teams.
- Exposure to change management in a workplace and effective consultation and management of this.
- ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 Lead Implementer and audit management.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of European ESH requirements and standards.
- Strong leadership and communication with cross-functional teams.
- Proven risk analysis management.
- Proven data reporting proficiency.
- Computer literacy with an ability to produce, analyse, and interpret reports.
- Basic to intermediate skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications.
- NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6 NVQ.
- Chartered Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
