About the Role
As a Health and Safety (H&S) Practitioner, you will deliver expert guidance across infrastructure and facilities, ensuring adherence to legislation and fostering continuous improvement in safety performance. You will be instrumental in cultivating a proactive safety culture, supporting operational teams, and making a significant contribution to national defence capabilities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing professional health and safety advice to operational teams and stakeholders.
- Conducting workplace inspections and assessments to identify hazards and enhance safety standards.
- Leading investigations into incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Supporting audits and ensuring the effective implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
- Engaging with teams and committees to promote best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week, based on-site at HMNB Clyde. The role operates on an eight-day fortnight schedule, with day shifts Monday to Thursday, and every second Friday, from 7:15 am to 4:45 pm.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within facilities management, construction, or infrastructure settings.
- Strong background in statutory and building compliance, with the ability to interpret and apply H&S legislation.
- Experience supporting or working within Construction, Design and Management (CDM) environments, including contractor and site safety management.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Proficiency in working with safety management systems and reporting tools.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
- Working towards a Health and Safety degree or NEBOSH Diploma (desirable).
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for this role may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency held or previously held.
