About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a VHDL FPGA Electronic Design Engineer focused on space equipment to join the Digital Engineering France team at Airbus Defence & Space in Elancourt (78). This team is dedicated to developing various electronics for integration into launch vehicles, observation satellites, telecommunication satellites, and scientific satellites.

Note: This position requires the candidate to hold French nationality, in accordance with IGI 1300 of 30/11/2011 (Article 65).

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As an Electronic Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, justification, and validation of FPGAs and ASICs used in the space sector for equipment such as avionics, processor cards, signal processing, image processing, data compression, mass storage, telecommunications, and cryptography.

You will have full responsibility for costs and planning for your activities within the Digital Design Group. Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Development of space-grade FPGAs and ASICs, including participation in technical proposals, specifications, architecture trade-offs, VHDL coding, and placement-and-routing.
  • Verification through simulation, board integration, functional validation, and performance characterization.
  • Incorporating all space domain specificities related to radiation, thermal constraints, and assembly requirements into the development process.
  • Writing the project documentation required by clients.

Occasional professional travel in France and Europe is anticipated, and you must be willing to travel accordingly.

Required Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

  • An engineering degree or equivalent in the field of electronics.
  • Good knowledge of VHDL, simulation, synthesis, and FPGA placement-and-routing.
  • Knowledge of low-level C software (for ARM) and scripting languages is a plus.
  • Ability to adhere to strict design rules.
  • Commitment, reactivity, and organizational skills, with a strong preference for teamwork.
  • A creative mindset and a good analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including client relations and presentations.
  • Linguistic skills: Negotiation level in French and advanced level in English.
