About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Power Electronics Design Engineer at Airbus Defence & Space in Elancourt, joining our Space department. You will contribute to the design and development of next-generation space electronic equipment, supported by an expert power electronics team.
Your responsibilities will include working with DC/DC switching power supplies, motor controls, and analog functions for various applications such as electric propulsion, digital, and RF systems. This position is ideal for developing your skills in power and analog electronics and gaining in-depth knowledge of space-specific challenges, including radiation, high reliability, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing considerations.
You will be part of an international and multicultural team, working on diverse and complex engineering problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and translate customer specifications.
- Define the architecture of space electronic equipment, including topology selection and fault mode considerations (protection, redundancy, reconfiguration).
- Detailed design of electronic functions: specification, component selection and sizing, schematic capture, simulation, radiation environment consideration, and test plan drafting.
- Analyze and justify design robustness: worst-case analysis, part stress analysis, failure mode analysis.
- Prototyping and building mock-ups for critical functions.
- Realize flight equipment boards: placement and routing.
- Ensure design consistency across thermal, mechanical, testability, fabricability, radiation, and technology aspects.
- Debug and characterize electronic boards and equipment.
- Provide support during the qualification and production phases, including defining test criteria and analyzing anomalies.
- Contribute to the improvement of work methods and the implementation of tools within the analog/power department.
- Manage costs and schedules for your activities.
- Potentially lead a team of engineers and interact closely with adjacent disciplines.
- Occasional professional travel within Europe (1-2 times per year) is required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Engineering degree in power electronics or a related university discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in analog/power electronics.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
- Sense of responsibility, analytical and synthetic thinking.
- Organized, rigorous, and autonomous with good adaptability.
- Dynamic, committed, and proactive.
- Ability to manage a team.
- Experience in the space sector is a plus but not essential.
- Negotiation level in French and advanced level in English.
