About Us

We are a dynamic and rapidly expanding defence and technology company, renowned for designing, developing, and delivering cutting-edge defence training, products, and services. Our commitment to excellence has been recognized with multiple accolades, including 'Employer of the Year' at the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2023, and consistent listings among the 'Best Large Companies to Work For' in the UK. We have also received Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in Innovation. Our team comprises experienced and capable individuals working in a collaborative, modern head office environment west of Lincoln.

The Role

Mission Training Devices (MTD) is seeking talented Software Development Graduates to join our growing team in anticipation of exciting new projects. You will be responsible for developing software for synthetic training devices, encompassing both stand-alone applications and Mixed-Reality integrations. We are particularly interested in candidates with recent training or experience in the following areas, in order of preference:

  • Building Windows Applications in C# / C++
  • Networking across Windows Applications
  • Plugin/Module development for Simulators/Games
  • Standalone cross-platform mobile applications

You will work with collaborative development tools such as Azure DevOps and Git, following the SCRUM development methodology. While knowledge of SCRUM Agile and team-based source control (GIT) is beneficial, we are looking for enthusiastic graduates with a proactive, 'can-do' attitude, eager to learn and expand their knowledge within a small team setting.

Due to the nature of the initial project, semi-frequent travel to MoD Boscombe Down for face-to-face meetings and hardware interaction is required. This is expected to be around twice-monthly, including at least one overnight stay.

The Person

MTD is looking for enthusiastic individuals driven by self-improvement and a desire to work on cutting-edge concepts. A foundational understanding of, or willingness to learn, the core principles of training, simulation, and emerging technologies is key. You should possess strong problem-solving abilities and integrate seamlessly into our growing team, collaborating effectively with like-minded professionals while also being capable of working independently on smaller projects.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for team meetings, code reviews, and discussions. A high level of professionalism is expected, including participation in team and company activities. We are embarking on several exciting projects and are seeking individuals who align with our dynamic team culture.

Important Requirements:

  • Must be a UK National.
  • May be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting, which may involve criminal record, security service, and credit reference checks.
  • Qualification for vetting normally requires a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
