The Role
Our award-winning Mission Systems Group, based in Lincoln, delivers advanced aviation IT systems. Due to our continued success and expansion, we are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development and delivery of our bespoke IT products. This role directly contributes to the systems engineering aspects of our electronic mapping, mission support, and electronic flight bag products.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and maintain software and system-level tests to ensure Mission Systems’ products function as designed and documented, supporting system releases.
- Provide test evidence and related documentation to support product releases and project deliveries.
- Maintain high standards through standardized approaches for software and system-level testing, including documentation and test evidence.
- Support continuous improvement of Mission Systems’ products, tests, and test management processes.
- Contribute to Mission Systems’ overall goals and activities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- A Degree in a STEM subject (ideally Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a numerate discipline); OR other qualifications backed by evidence of software test experience.
- Strong A-levels in STEM subjects.
- A methodical approach to work.
- Expert user of modern office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
- Familiarity with Systems and Software Engineering Lifecycles, interface, and integration.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Requirements, Architecture, and Verification.
- Experience using Requirements, Verification, and Configuration Management tools.
- Understanding of configuration control principles.
- Programming experience, ideally using C# or Visual Basic.
- Competent user of IBM Rational DOORS tools.
- Software test background within the aerospace domain (military or civil).
- Knowledge of principles for developing safety-related systems (e.g., RTCA/DO-178C, DO-200A, DO-254, IEC61508).
- Understanding of modern operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Android).
Additional Information
Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting, which may involve criminal record, security service, and credit reference checks. Qualification will also normally require a minimum of 5 years' UK residency.
