Join us as an IT Infrastructure Engineer at our Farnborough or Rosyth site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and stabilising critical infrastructure systems that support complex maritime and defence programmes. Day-to-day, you’ll be working hands-on across server and virtualisation environments, helping to stabilise existing infrastructure while contributing to the design and build of next-generation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and delivering server and virtualisation infrastructure solutions across key projects.
  • Migrating and optimising environments into VMware-based virtual stacks.
  • Collaborating with network engineers to stabilise and improve infrastructure environments.
  • Building, configuring, and integrating systems across physical and virtual platforms.
  • Producing technical documentation, test plans, and implementation artefacts.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers within the team.
  • Visits to the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) in Scotland for 1 week every 2 to 3 months.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on server and virtualisation technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware and virtualised environments.
  • Experience working with Windows Server in complex environments.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, stabilise, and improve infrastructure systems.
  • Experience working in collaborative engineering teams and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Ability to take ownership, work autonomously, and contribute to team success.

We value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education. Provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn, then we would like to hear from you.

This role is 37 hours per week, based at our Farnborough or Rosyth site, with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. You will also be required to travel to the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) once every 2 to 3 months for essential installation and maintenance works.
