As an IT/Server Engineer, you will work with project managers and technical leads to provide technical leadership and support to IT projects and programmes. Day-to-day, you’ll use your SME knowledge to lead the delivery of complex technical tasks, supporting the delivery of projects across the full lifecycle, from conception to in-service.
Responsibilities:
- Technically lead small projects or parts of larger projects by managing a small technical team to deliver solutions using best practice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Working to time and budget, the candidate will be responsible for identifying problems, providing pragmatic solutions, and delivering outputs.
Essential Experience:
- Proven interpersonal/communication skills in order to convey complex information.
- Experience of working on a range of engineering projects.
- Good motivation and drive to see issues addressed.
- Ability to stimulate creative ideas and help integrate their contributions into professional, deliverable solutions.
- Experience of working with a broad and comprehensive range of concepts and principles within the areas of IT.
- Has commercial awareness and understanding of the market relevant to their discipline.
Essential Qualifications:
- A degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent, nationally recognised, professional qualification.

This role is 37 hours per week based at Portsmouth.
Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
