Lead Test Solutions Engineer - Praetorian DASS
Leonardo UK is seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Solutions Engineer to join our exciting project supporting the Praetorian Defensive Aids Sub-System (DASS) for the Eurofighter Typhoon. The DASS provides critical protection against air-to-air and surface-to-air threats.
In this role, you will be the engineering point of contact and lead engineer for the subcontracting of complex microwave test solutions. You will play a crucial role in managing the Engineering Management of Test Solutions and ensuring the successful delivery of these vital systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and capture requirements for Test Equipment Requirement Specifications (TERS).
- Lead the subcontracting of complex test solutions to the supply chain.
- Manage the relationships between Leonardo UK and third-party suppliers.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the company's Life-cycle design reviews.
- Manage the engineering technical quality, schedule, and budget.
- Support the management of Suppliers and project Make/Buy decisions.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies, particularly with test solutions or obsolescence.
- Ensure that design rationale is documented where changes are required.
- Provide input to Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards.
- Manage concessions, ensuring effective closure plans are in place and enacted.
What You Will Bring:
- Hands-on experience designing complex Test Solutions across the full lifecycle.
- Good understanding of electronic technologies (dc to light) or the Systems/Software engineering lifecycle.
- Experience working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work packages.
- Extensive knowledge in NI LabVIEW & TestStand.
- Degree qualified (or equivalent).
- Good schedule and budget control capabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong leadership competency coupled with demonstrated team-working skills.
- Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and business processes.
Desirable Skills:
- Good understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM.
- Experience in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems.
- Chartered Engineer status or membership in a professional engineering institution.

Further Personnel Security Controls, including National Security Vetting (NSV), may apply, potentially including eligibility for Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

- Hybrid Working: Hybrid, with flexible hours available.
- Travel within the UK is required; travel within Europe may also be necessary.
