Marine Electrical Fitter

This is a role that is truly out of the ordinary, placing you within a team that is essential to supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet. It’s a hands-on, high-impact position where your skills will directly benefit national defence and maritime safety. You will be engaged with complex electrical systems, tackling real-world engineering challenges, and advancing your expertise within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related tasks to achieve operational goals.
- Conducting electrical fitting, repairs, and inspections on marine systems and equipment.
- Identifying and resolving system defects to ensure peak performance and availability.
- Adhering to health and safety protocols and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborating with other departments to support broader engineering operations.
This is a full-time, permanent role, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, from 07:15 to 16:45. The position is based on-site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential Experience:
- A background in marine or industrial engineering, with practical electrical maintenance experience.
- Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and problem-solving with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Familiarity with maintenance procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Qualifications:
- A recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent), OR an HNC and above in an Electrical Engineering discipline coupled with relevant industry experience.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this position.
