Marine Electrical Fitter

It’s a hands-on, high-impact position where your skills will directly benefit national defence and maritime safety. You will be engaged with complex electrical systems, tackling real-world engineering challenges, and advancing your expertise within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related tasks to achieve operational goals.
  • Conducting electrical fitting, repairs, and inspections on marine systems and equipment.
  • Identifying and resolving system defects to ensure peak performance and availability.
  • Adhering to health and safety protocols and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other departments to support broader engineering operations.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, from 07:15 to 16:45. The position is based on-site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential Experience:

  • A background in marine or industrial engineering, with practical electrical maintenance experience.
  • Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and problem-solving with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.

Qualifications:

  • A recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent), OR an HNC and above in an Electrical Engineering discipline coupled with relevant industry experience.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this position.
