About the Role

This position is part of the Sustainability Business Unit of Airbus Protect, which aims to empower businesses to build a sustainable future. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the suitability of materials for aerospace applications and contributing to the company's digitalization initiatives.

Task Description

  • Assist in the qualification of elastomers, adhesives, sealants, and composites for applications in the aerospace industry.
  • Interface with the obsolescence management department to identify and qualify suitable material replacements.
  • Act as a liaison between different design departments to gather necessary engineering requirements and identify optimal material solutions for specific applications.
  • Manage test campaigns, including the comprehensive reporting of test results.
  • Support digitalization efforts by managing and analyzing large datasets across various platforms.
  • Assist in the development of digital visualization tools and facilitate cross-platform integration.

Required Qualifications

The work requires knowledge and skills typically acquired through a relevant course of study (up to 4 years) in materials, aerospace, or mechanical engineering, or comparable fields. Equivalent knowledge and experience may also be considered.

Skills and Competences

  • Desired first experience in the aerospace industry, or other sectors dealing with organic and composite material and process qualifications.
  • Familiarity with defining engineering requirements.
  • Initial knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and techniques for aerospace applications.
  • Good knowledge of adhesives and sealants used in structural applications.
  • Desired experience in database management and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., AppScript, C++, Java, and Python).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • A committed, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Very good German and English language proficiency, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Location

This role is based at our Donauwörth site, where we support Airbus Helicopters in developing helicopters from concept to airworthy product, including operations on our own on-site test airfield.
